Matt Carroll thanks friends, family, and the Sarasota community for their support…
When Sarasota area musician Matt Carroll first got the news his liver was failing, he had no idea about the emotional roller coaster of a journey he was about to go on with his wife and family. Suffering physically through a debilitating illness is bad enough, but when you add financial troubles to the mix sometimes the magnitude of the medical crisis can be tough to handle by yourself.

Matt Carroll is a liver transplant surgery candidate who was born and raised in the Sarasota County community.
Hardworking and proud, the Carroll family have always prided themselves on taking care of one another. Now that time has passed and money has grown thin, they have had to make that important first step in opening up to allowing the universe — through the good will of friends and strangers — to help provide for them.
Fortunately, Matt was feeling well enough to speak on video for a few moments recently. During that time, he wanted to thank all the residents of Sarasota and Manatee County who have been helping raise money to gift to his family to help keep them financially sound while he waits for what everyone hopes is his life saving liver transplant surgery.
Regarding Matt’s journey to health while learning to embrace community love and support, friend Melissa Suarez writes,
For those who have not seen this video yet…please take the time and turn the volume up when Matt begins to speak.
This is literally a man fighting for his life who is on the waiting list at the Mayo Clinic. Legit and as REAL as it gets [his cause is]…
MANY THANKS to all who are so caring enough to support “The Power of Soul” cause happening right now in Sarasota, Florida.
Much love to you all for your donations, volunteer time, love, and support for Matt and Gini Carroll.”

As another friend Tracy Bourn explains, “What a moving 6 minutes and 32 seconds… Matt has more courage and strength than anyone I know…”
